Off Leash Dogs - Trespassing on CN Property

There still seems to be a few people who think the trails are their personal dog walking trails but all trails in Oxford County require your dog be on a leash and in control at all times.

There seems to be some confusion concering the Carmeuse Trail off of Domtar Line. Only the small park that is on Carmeuse property if off leash. Once you leave the park and head east your are on a Oxford County trail and you dog must be on a leash.

That trail ends at the CN tracks and there is no conection bewteen it and the Thames River Trail. Going on CN property you are trespassing and could recieve a $615 fine so please do not put yourself or your family in danger as trains pass there at up to 80 MPH. The area is partolled by CN Police on a regular basis as they have new equipment there.

Hodges Pond Update Sept 2024

Bench Dedication Thames River Trail

On Sunday, October 6, the Glen Burrill bench was officially commemorated by his family. Linda Burrill (wife) appreciated the efforts of the OCTC in this special memory. Ken Westcar (Secretary/Treasurer) was MC and delivered a heartfelt message regarding Glen. Bagpiper Dylan Powell played Glen's favourite: Amazing Grace.

Special thanks to Glen's family and Maglin Site Furniture who assisted with this project. Glen's dedication to the trail will be greatly missed.

This event was planned to celebrate the contributions of Gunn's Hill Limited Partnership, the neighbouring green energy project, part of the Oxford Community Energy Cooperative. Ongoing funding from GHLP has been instrumental in the transformation of the Hodge's Property...trails and natural heritage. Contributions from GHLP have not only funded projects directly, but have provided some of the matching dollars required for some of our largest grants...from Environment Canada and Health Futures.

For the Hodge's Event we partnered with County of Oxford, Woodstock Field Naturalists, Tourism Oxford, Stewardship Oxford, Woodstock Environmental Advisory Committee, Oxford EarlyON, and others to help host the event and run activities and guided hikes

Thanks to Brad and his team as well as all the volunteers who made it such a huge success.

Norwich to Tillsonburg Trail Update

Nov 6 2019

On Wednesday, November 6, Oxford County will be hosting a public meeting regarding the development of a recreational trail along the former railway corridor extending from Norwich to Tillsonburg.

The meeting which will be from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Norwich Community Centre will outline the proposed plans to establish a trail partnership with the Oxford County Trails Council, the Township of Norwich, and a local community group for the development of approximately 15 kilometres of off-road trail, helping to provide further connectivity to the Trans Canada Trail, the local trail network within Tillsonburg, and on-road cycling routes.
